Tips from Purple Cow by Seth Godin

Tips from Purple Cow by Seth Godin.

Been stuck this book since! Here are a few quick stuff I gathered.
There are so many P’s you need to pay attention to in order to make a difference and let people pay attention, especially in this music business, so imagine my delight when I read this amazing book and saw things that made my head explode.

First, the important P’s:

  • Product
  • Pricing
  • Positioning
  • Promotion
  • Packaging
  • Publicity
  • Pass Along
  • Permission
  • and the ultimate — the PURPLE COW.

Be Remarkable. Create products that the right people seek.

  • Be worth talking about
  • Worth noticing
  • Exceptional
  • Interesting
  • New

Other Notes

The way to break through is to target a niche instead of a huge market

  • How persistent is your idea?
  • Can people talk about your art? Can people talk about you?
  • Investing in yourself to be a PURPLE COW is smarter than investing in a superbowl ad.
  • Differentiate your customers. Find the group that’s most likely to sneeze: ie tell people about you and ignore the rest.
  • Outrageous is not always remarkable. Your goal is to be remarkable, not outrageous.
  • Being safe is risky. Live life on the edge!
